Photos Shared Album Content on Mac blurry and will not allow import to library

I am using iCloud for Photos on all devices (iMac, iPhone, and iPad). I am NOT using Optimized Storage on any device as they all have enough storage for my ~30,000 photos. On the Mac (Catalina 10.15.7), most recently, all the thumbnails and full size pics from Shared Alums are blurry on the screen, and eventually timeout with an error (see below) when I try to import them into my library, individually or as a group. I have already:

• quit and restarted Photos
• power cycled the computer
• turned off Shared Albums, restarted computer, then turned Shared Albums back on (they came back verrryyyy slowly, but blurry again)

All is fine on the iPad and iPhone. Note that I also have another friend who also gets the same error (Preparing to import from shared album for a long time, then eventually "The operation couldn’t be completed. (PHAssetExportRequestErrorDomain error 2.)"

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
