Apple logo flash at startup

New iPhone 12 Pro. At startup the Apple logo flashes super bright for a brief second then the screen goes dark for about 10 seconds before the Apple Logo re appears at normal brightness to finish the startup. I’ve had iPhones for years and never had the logo turn on and then off during startup. Is that Normal for the 12?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14

Same issue.

I have had my Pro Max now for about 2 days, and after the very first power down happened, I turned it back on, to my surprise did the exact same thing happening to everyone else. Not sure what to do at this point, the phone performs brilliantly and shows no sign of damage or performance, though as said in the comments, if the problem is only the startup, and nothing else happens, then I am fine with it.

I had the same issue too, I did replace 6 devices even tried to change capacity and color all with the same issue (12 pro max blue 128, 256, and graphite 256).

I noticed it's happening only after the first full charge (100%).

Used the last replaced one for 2 days keeping the battery less than 100% it was working fine but last night I decided to fully charge it and then the apple logo start to flash again now.

I am facing a similar issue on my iPhone 12 that I purchased recently. The phone works absolutely normal after restart. I informed the same to Apple care. They said that after restart, if the Apple logo brightens for few seconds, and then the Apple logo reappears on its own , there’s nothing to worry about. ( I restarted my iPhone almost 10 times today 😔) I was explained that this is an expected functionality. I think this has come along with IOS 14.3. Because previously with 14.2, I noticed nothing like this.

Anybody else if updated to 14.3 and facing same issue do post here. Thanks!

Well it is a gamble that involves a lot of money.

You never know what this phone does after a half year of usage.

I like to sell my iphone 12 pro max after a year or maybe 2.. What do I tell this person when he noticed this? Right...

This sounds like something different; the logo appearing for a few seconds when the iPhone boots is normal. What isn't is a very brief flash, followed by the screen going dark for a few seconds before the Apple logo comes back on. As far as we can tell, it affects phones that were produced recently, with iOS 14.3 pre-installed; I've not yet heard of a case where it affects phones that were delivered with previous version of iOS and subsequently upgraded to 14.3.

Can you let us know if you have a 12, or a 12 Pro or Pro Max? Someone on another forum said it occurred on a recently acquired 12; until now, it was only 12 Pro or Pro Max.

Well the senior engineer just called back. And at the moment they just dont know what is causing this issue. And they dont know yet if this is a hardware or software issue. So the choice they gave me is: return it to my webshop (since I am still in cooldown period of my webshop) or wait till they can fix it with an update.

Got my third unit! Yes it was replaced twice already. And yes, it still has the same issue!! Talked to apply support again and was advised again to visit our local apple authorized service center.

asked them if it can be fixed by the next update. And they have no idea of the issue yet.

How frustrating.

True that. Let's hope Apple fixes this soon. It's really frustrating and disheartening at the same that you have waited for something and when you finally buy it, duh!!

Additionally, I had asked the Apple care guy that my 6s never showed something like this. I was explained that this has been introduced in the iPhone 12 models.....

Hello,

My brother and me have the same issue.

We bought two iphones 12 at the beginning of January (I specify that we are French). For my part, I ordered an Iphone 12 pro max and my brother took the 12 (not pro), both in 128g of storage and factory set on IOS 14.3.

At the first start, nothing abnormal. I used to turn it off often because still not having received my protection case, I didn't want to use it on a daily basis. that's when i turned it off and back on again several times that I saw that there was a problem. So I decided to return my product because I thought it was a defect and nothing on the internet mentioned this problem (this post didn't exist yet).

My brother left his phone on more longer because he was using it, but there came a time when he had to turn it back on for various reasons. And there I realize that he has the same thing as me, except that he has decided to keep the phone because there is no other problem after it started (he doesn’t care about this issue).

I am waiting for my new 12 pro max which should arrive on February 10th, I will tell you if this issue remains. I don't think it's a hardware issue, so that would mean that all of our phones are defective ?? I cannot believe it.

I contacted Apple support three times, the first person told me that it might be a dual boot but no certification. The other two didn't know anything about it.

I have 3 other friends who have purchased Pro Max models, one of them ordered it when it was released, the second in early December and the last a few days ago. None of them have this issue.

I hope we will find a solution quickly.

(Sorry for my bad english)

Have a good day.

Thank you for sharing the information. It's the second report I've seen of a 12 (not Pro) having this issue. However, I'm curious about the friend you mentioned that got a Pro Max a few days ago, but hasn't seen this; it doesn't show up right away, it somehow seems linked to when it gets charged to 100%. Would be good to check with him now; one possibility is that he picked it up recently but it came from an older production batch.

I expect that we will hear from Apple soon, perhaps this week or next.

Entre temps, bonne journée à vous aussi!

Hi. I’m having the same annoying issue IN 3 iPhone 12 Pro Max. This is the 3rd set with the same issue. I went to the Apple store (in Singapore) and they don’t even know. They took a video of the faulty procedure and sent to Apple IT department, and I’m waiting for their results, still using my 3rd faulty expensive iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Thinking about getting a Huawei instead.

I miss Steve Jobs, Apple is not the same since he passed away.
