Bluetooth Extenders

I have 4 HomePods (3 Mini and 1 Regular) and 3 Apple TVs. Quick question, do the HomePods and Apple TV act as Bluetooth extenders even if they're not currently the active hub, but just on standby?

I ask because it seems the HomePod Mini upstairs is always acting as the "active" hub although all my Caseta switches and door locks are downstairs.

Do you HAVE to set up two HomePods as a stereo pair for Apple TV 4K? Due to my home layout, it’s a lot easier for me to put two Homepods (as speakers for my Apple TV 4K) in pretty different spots, one in front of where I sit and one behind where I sit, not left and right of the tv like a stereo pairing dictates. I’m still not totally clear about whether this is possible after reading the official Apple article.

HomeKit Hub roaming I have a setup with multiple Apple TVs and HomePod minis (7 Apple TVs and 8 HomePod minis). One of these devices becomes the connected HomeKit hub randomly, the rest are in standby and the problem is that some of the HomeKit devices are using Bluetooth LTE and for some Apple TVs are too far away. So each time the device (be it an Apple TV or HomePod mini) that is the connected HomeKit hub is too far away those HomeKit devices do not work anymore. While I can disconnect the Apple TV from their menu to stop them to become connected there is no way I can do this for the HomePod minis. I need to inhibit the HomePod minis to become connected HomeKit hubs in order to get a stable HomeKit system. Any ideas?

As far as I am aware the active home hub can be any of the capable devices and it shouldn't matter which. Communication between devices will be over Wi-Fi rather than Bluetooth. If you want a particular device to be the home hub turn off the others for a few minutes and it should take over.
