'Optimized Battery Charging' vs. Power off over night?

I recently got an iPhone 11 and I'd like to preserve the battery life as much as possible. I typically only charge my phone (on a wireless charger) overnight. Would it be better for the health of the battery if I leave the phone on overnight and use the 'Optimized Battery Charging' function, or should I turn my phone off while charging at night?

This is assuming that the 'Optimized Battery Charging' function (i.e., learning my charging routine) doesn't work if the phone is turned off?

Thank you for any advice!

Powering down the device does not preserve battery life. Battery life is determined by cycles, not overall time on, or off.

The main thing you should avoid is frequent deep discharge cycles, particularly not allowing the device to get so low that it auto-powers off to preserve the function of the battery, Those deep cycle discharges reduce the useable life span, while more frequent charging, even partial charges, are fine.

Thank you for getting back to me. I understand that the battery will charge to 100% either way. I just thought that maybe it wouldn't be sitting idle at 100% for as long if I use the Optimized Battery Charging function. On the other hand, perhaps it would be better for the health of the battery to be powered down for 8 hours?

Am I correct that the Optimized Battery Charging function does not work if the phone is turned off?
