Bingo!
My BeoPlay A1 speaker would not play when it was Bluetooth selected (Macbook Air 2020)
I spent months on-and-off trying to work it out and thought I would go out of my mind that my quite expensive and good quality third party speaker wasn't going to work for my movie selection etc.....
I finally figured that as well as connecting to bluetooth
you also must open System Preferences/Sound and select the device.
I think this used to be an automatic selection when you connected to bluetooth previously, but not since Big Sur.
So connect bluetooth to your device, then open Sound and select the device
(From my elated testing today I think the computer might remember my selection and do it automatically now when I select my bluetooth device from the menubar)
Cheers

Since upgrading to big sur bluetooth does not work properly on my macbook air retina 13" 2020
That is - Bluetooth to my beoplay A1 speaker
Blue tooth to this speaker does seem to work properly in music app, as long as within that app the little airplay button is used to select the speaker. This is not available in the web browser, safari, chrome etc.
In Bluetooth preferences, it shows as connected to the beoplayA1 but the sound comes out of the computer speakers and not the bluetoothed speaker. This is with everything except Music
I started up in safe boot, and lo and behold it works fine!
I have nothing in startup items so I can't remove anything that may be a problem.
Once I restart normally I lose the bluetooth in my web browsers. It is weird but true!
My apple airpods connect properly, easily, normally, just like my speakers used to, but the third party speakers do not.
I've used Sennheiser HD BT 350 for a couple of weeks without eny problems with my iMac (macOS 11.2.1). I have no idea what happened but now it drops the connection after a couple of seconds. I believe this happened since the latest update (11.2.1)?!
Tried to disconnect all other devices
Reconnect the headphones
Pairing the headphones again
Tried to "Reset the bluetooth module" " Factory reset all apple devices..." and "Remove all devices" from mac bluetooth menu.
Any ideas?
I have a 2020 27” iMac that loses Bluetooth connection to mouse and keyboard (both the ones that came with computer) almost incessantly when I am in Safari or Chrome. It comes back again and I rush to complete a few more steps of my task and then lose it again for minutes... This does not seem to happen when using any other application, only web browsers. It may occur only after the computer has been asleep or perhaps had the screen saver running. Does not seem to happen when the computer is started fresh, but not sure about that. Running Big Sur 11.1
OK, i guess i'll have to try starting in safe mode, but that is ridiculous. anyone know if Apple is working on this glitch in Big Sur?
No help from Big Sur 11.2.3 update
That's it!
Though it's still a kind of workaround, it works with my Sennheiser HD BT 350.
What would Apple do without the super resilient Mac users...
Thank You!
