Import music from iPod classic to MacBook Air M1

The title says it all, I think!

A while back I stored all my music and podcasts on my old iPod Classic (a mixture of iTunes purchases and songs I ripped from CDs). I'm wanting to get that content onto my MacBook Air M1, and wondered if and how I could do this?

Last time I used Macs we had iTunes, so I'm a little lost now with Music app etc!

Transfer iPod Classic to MacAir ? I have an iPod classic. Wife just got me a newer Mac Air with Catalina 10. 15. 7 (yeah! 3/1/21). Anyone know if it is now possible to take all of my music from iTunes, which I have saved on my classic, to transfer it to the newer Mac Air? My old MacBook is not compatible with migration assistant because it is too old. I tried transferring the entire library on a external hard drive, 53 GB but it did not work, only 1,300 songs were transferred. best program to transfer songs from ipod to macbook music i have an ipod classic 160 GB from late 2009. i want to transfer all the songs on it to my macbook running catalina 10.15.2 which has "music" instead of "itunes" or to an external flash drive. i understand i have to use a third-party program to do this. does anyone have any recommendations? i'd rather have a free program but i'm willing to pay for something that is easy & fast.

Transfer music from MacBook to iPad and iPod touch with Music App Hello, can someone please help me copy music files from my 2012 MacBook hard disk to my iPad (2017) and iPod (2019) Music App, please? These files are recordings of talks that are not purchased from Apple music. This used to be very easy with iTunes. Now with the Apple's new Music App I am unable to do it. I spent little over two hours on the phone with Apple Help and it was a complete waste of time. I spoke with an agent , her supervisor and the supervisor's supervisor. The last one gave me a lame excuse- he was never trained to be able to help me with this! Each of them told me that I need to remove all existing music files in the Music folder and then transfer the files i now want to transfer. I don't want to do that. The important catch here is that they can only tell me how to transfer music that I bought from Apple's music store! Can you someone please give me step-by-step method on how I can transfer MP3 files from MacBook to the iPad, of talks not bought from Apple store? Thank you. Subbu

See Recover media from an iPod - Apple Community. You'll need to adapt the advice a little for Music but the basic principles should be the same.
