Iphone 6 to Iphone 7 transfer

If moving your sims card from Iphone 6 to Iphone 7 doesn't transfer your data, contacts, etc. Why do it?

There is not much reason to transfer your SIM. Doing so would transfer your cellular telephone number, and not much more.
