What specific platform security bug?

Apple's macOS has built-in security including an operating system parked on a code-signed, read-only partition which keeps malware out of the operating system. Windows malware and viruses, very real on that operating system, cannot run on the Mac. That precludes using any so-called anti-virus product which commonly gives false alarms with valid components of applications and the operating system.

Ad and malware can invade your Mac carried by software that was not downloaded directly from the original software vendor's site. For that, we recommend the free Malwarebytes application. It has a full-featured trial and then the application can continue to be used without any subscription, or simply removed via its Help menu.

It appears to be adware.

Download and run free Malwarebytes for Mac. That should be able to get rid of it.
