Mini M1 Photos app issue

I am having an issue with the Photos app after migrating to the new Mac mini M1. I used a timemachine drive to migrate from my Mac mini 2018 to the new MMM1. The problem I'm having is that using the Apple photos app, all of the photos that I edited using the Luminar 4 or Luminar AI Photos plugin on the old machine cannot be edited on the new machine. These edited images OPEN just fine in Photos, but cannot be edited.

When I hit the "EDIT" button in PHotos I get a message that says "Cannot Start Editing. Photos cannot load adjustments for this image". If I continue and try to force it to use Luminar AI I get "Cannot load representation of type PUEditingInitialPayloadTypeIdentifier". I am able to edit and re-edit the same photos on the old Mac mini with no errors.

I'm running the same version of Big Sur and the same version of Photos on both systems. If I do a "restore to original" on the offending images on the M1 system I can then edit the image. But I don't want to lose the edits to those photos.

I had an idea of exporting the image and reading it back it - but I get an error when I try to export the image (Cocoa error -1)

Since things work correctly on my Mac Mini 2018, I'm assuming that the issue is not with the Skylum/Luminar software.

UPDATE: Also on some of my more recent photo imports, the thumbnail images are missing. There is just a blank grey rectangle instead of a thumbnail. If I click on the grey thumbnail I get the image after waiting for a few seconds. I don't think that the missing thumbnails are related to the Luminar plugin issue - I can't say for sure that those with missing thumbnails were also edited.
