Are there different versions of Mini Display port female/male connectors ?

I have a Mac Pro 5.1 with an Apple LED 27" Cinema Display (Model MC007ZM/A) and cannot connect it to a AMD Radeon HD 7950. The lenght of the grey plastic tongue inside female connector on card that prevent the male connector to plug fully in. It is longer than in the original card (not Metal compatible) ATI RADEON HD 5770.

The port on the 7950 card is likely to be [Full Size] DisplayPort, a common standard when space in not an issue, while [Mini] DisplayPort is used when interacting with Thunderbolt-2 and on the older Apple-firmware 5770, which uses the same connector and a deliberately aligned subset of Thunderbolt-2 signals.

The signal and levels are the same between the two, and adapter/cables are inexpensive and available, because it is merely a re-wire, not a conversion.

The Radeon 7950 has 1 DVI, 1 HDMI and 2 Mini DisplayPorts.

The 27 inch Display uses a Mini DisplayPort

No adaptor should be necessary.

Where did you get this card and is it in good condition

is the end plate that covers the ports correctly fitted.

Thank you Grant,

Here the connector side of my card, in red the plastic part too long

I tried to find adapter cable but never find one.

Used male HDMI to female Mini Display port but the issue is the same : screen cable cannot fit completely inside.

If I understand what you said the connector cable from my screen is not a Mini Display port but a Thunderbolt-2.

Do you have any idea where to find such kind of adapter ?
