mail does not send big attachments with mail drop

Big Sur om Macbook Pro 2020

Mail does suddenly not send large attachments anymore, it asks for 'do you want to send via mail drop" then the mail goes to the 'drafts' folder and the attachmentis gone. (and mail did not send)

What I tried:

  • a new user-account on same Mac, with same appleid, maildrop worked without problem.
  • safeboot
  • deleting cache-files from user library
  • deleting com.apple.mail state from saved states

Does anybody have an idea to solve this?

Thanks

Hi Frank4art,

Thank you for posting in Apple Support Communities. Sounds like you are attempting to send large attachment files and are being prompted to use Mail Drop, do we have that right? This would be expected behavior. You'll want to make sure "Send large attachments with Mail Drop" is turned on if you go to the Mail menu > Preferences > Accounts.

Check out: Mail Drop limits

Hope that helps!

Frank4art,

Thank you for that information. Are you doing this with your iCloud email account or a different account? Are you able to send attachments using the webmail in Safari? If you are using a different mail client than iCloud, you may need to reach out to them to confirm the attachment limits. Does this happen with any large attachment that you attempt to send? If you are using iCloud, how much storage to you have available in iCloud?

Hope that helps!
