AirPod Pros caused a severe allergic reaction

My AirPod Pros caused a severe allergic reaction. I went to the doctor twice because of this. Twice because I didn't think it was the AirPod Pros — I have worn silicone earbuds for many years with no ill effect.


I am posting this less as a question and more as a public service. I wish I had known this might happen because it would have saved me a lot of time and discomfort. If you know this might happen, you can be prepared.


Apple, if you are listening, you should add information on this with the AirPod Pros.

See if you recognize any materials in this list that your doctor tells you that you may be allergic to: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211158. If you think that it is just the AirPods Pro silicone tips that causes your allergic reactions, find Apple and order replacement tips and see if that can solve your problem (they cost USD$8 for two pairs online, $4 for a pair if you go to a store).
