How to turn off background app auto refresh in airplane mode?

I have majority of apps on iPad/iphone turn on for background refresh on normal days, not in airplane mode for maximum battery usage. Is there a way to select apps to continue background refresh during airplane mode?

Nope, no such option.

To my knowledge, in Settings>General>Background App Refresh you can only select Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi & Cellular Data, or Off to turn off Background App Refresh entirely.

I don't see any other option to continue refreshing after enabling airplane mode (which we generally invoke to avoid any external / internal activity, unless we decide to keep our device in airplane + wifi mode).

That's exactly what I do now. Normal mode: Wifi/BT/Celluar mode w/some background app refresh. When I turn on airplane mode it will automatically turn off cellular and wifi. But background app I still keep couple of health monitoring apps running in the background, so need to turn off others one by one. Wonder there is a one-touch configuration for airplane mode for BT with specific selected apps background app refresh turned off.
