Hey all!
I'd like to help my wife connect her new M1 MacBook pro (13") to her older Apple display. The external still works with her older MBP and her trashcan Pro via Thunderbolt and USB 3. But the USB-C outputs on the new MBP are confusing us. Any thoughts on what adapters are best? She'd still like to leave on port open for her power supply, if possible.

That looks like an Apple display. The display connector show the oval-with-bars that suggests a Mini Displayport input. The MagSafe and USB-A are not required to get picture on the display, only to change the Brightness using a slider in the control panel instead of using controls on the display itself.
Apple does not sell an adapter that works from the USB-C of the computer to the Mini DisplayPort input of the display.
You could use this one, or one like it. best results are for adapters rated "4K".
