Help with podcast rss refresh

I have had a podcast on apple music for over 5 years now, self hosted from my own domain. I recently moved it to anchor.fm, and I'm having a hard time getting the rss feed updated.

I went to the settings for my sites feed on https://podcastsconnect.apple.com/ and put in the new rss feed (https://anchor.fm/s/45580f58/podcast/rss). As expected, the site shows that my feed is "scheduled for refresh", and after a few minutes to a few hours, it comes back as "Active", but the rss feed is set back to the original feed.

I've contacted anchor to report this as well, but they said the problem was with apple.

The tag has to go in the old feed, which has to be left up for 2 weeks to allow all subscribers a chance to pick it up and change to the new one.

Using Podcasts Connect has the disadvantage of updating only the iTunes Store, not subscribers. If you are able, it's better to add the 'itunes:new-feed-url' tag to the original feed. That and other methods are detailed here:

I don't know why Podcasts Connect should behave like this. When Anchor create a feed in the first place, they usually submit it under their own Apple ID, making it their podcast, not the creator's. I don't know how it works if you transfer to them. It may be that they want to use their ID, in which case you would have to contact Podcasts Support who can give you instrcutions on how to do this I would strongly advise you not to: if it goes under Anchor's ID you won't be able to get statistics or indeed get into Podcasts Connect for your podcast. There are plenty of hosting services which don't pull this stunt.

The good news is that anchor picked up my existing apple podcast feed, so once that feed updates, everything should continue to work as normal.

Unfortunately, the current anchor feed doesn't include the new-feed-url tag, but hopefully I can get them to update that. I worry that I may have jumped the gun towards 3rd party hosting a bit before anchor was mature enough to handle it.
