The 2020 M1 Mac mini can use only one Thunderbolt display. It supports only one display from the Thunderbolt 3./USB-C ports. A second display must use the HDMI port, and there is no way to run a Thunderbolt display from HDMI.

Mac mini (M1, 2020) - Technical specifications "Simultaneously supports up to two displays:

One display with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz connected via Thunderbolt and one display with up to 4K resolution at 60Hz connected via HDMI 2.0"

Hi Malcom, I purchased the HDMI to DisplayPort converter and also the DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort adapter. I am running the first Cinema Display monitor to the Mac mini with a usb c to mini displayport adapter and am trying to run the second monitor with the cables I purchased. The second monitor seems to turn on for a few seconds but then stops displaying. I am using this adapter on both of my monitors: https://www.apple.com/sg_smb_5200/shop/product/MB571Z/A/mini-displayport-to-dual-link-dvi-adapter

They both work individually but not together. Is it possible to use both monitors running on the dual link dvi adapters connecting the Mini DisplayPort to the necessary adapters for the Mac mini?

Connect one with a USB-C to Dual Link DVI adapter.

Connect the other to the HDMI port with a HDMI to DisplayPort converter

https://www.cablematters.com/pc-825-139-gold-plated-hdmi-to-displayport-converter-supporting-4k-30-hz-in-black.aspx

and a DisplayPort to DVI Dual Link Adapter.

The USB cables from the adapters need a USB charger, such as:

The display's USB cable plugs into the Mac mini. The HDMI adapter claims 2560x1440 @ 60Hz, but will probably work with the 30" display's 2560x1600 resolution.

Hi Malcom,

I suppose this would the same solution for me as well. I have two A1407 monitors?

Have you tried this personally? It's been a bit of a challenge as I am in Canada and I'm having difficulty locating the correct cables.

Currently, I have one monitor functional, plugged into one of the USB-C ports using an apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 converter. What is the solution that you would suggest for the other monitor?

Thanks in advance-I've been struggling SO hard with this.

If it's the Apple adapter, it's Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI. You could use it with the HDMI to DisplayPort converter if you add a DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort adapter.

The Apple adapter has a USB port for the display's USB cable, and the adapter's USB cablev plugs into the Mac mini, so you only need on USB power outlet for the other adapter.
