why is my serial number not valid?

I called apple yesterday - the senior tech manager told me there is a fake serial number that has over 350+ fake products (maybe even more)

I tried validate the serial numbers from box & airpod - and I got an error message.

My AirPods have SN's matching box & AirPod Pro - BUT - when you pair them to device - different serial number (the fake one) appears...this is mine GWXD9Q4CLKKT and it shows valid on the verify apple products website --> according to Apple this is the same fake serial number used on many products.

Basically I have (2) sets of airpod pros with fake serial numbers that are useless...(purchased 2nd hand so not apples fault)
