I had this problem after I installed Big Suck on my MacBook.

Before iMessage was iMessage. Worked the same on whatever device signed in to iCloud.

With Big Suck, you have to set up Text Forwarding on your iPhone and enable for each device.

Mine did the same thing, I had to reset my phone to factory settings and now it's not connected to my macbook pro. My ohine number isnt even an option to check in the imessage preferences
