AirPod battery notification pop up

I have the gen 2 AirPods, have had them for a few weeks and I have never gotten the low battery notification pop up. I have only ever gotten the chime sound. How do I enable this?

In this case we'd recommend unpairing the AirPods and pairing them again to see if the issue persists. You can learn how here: Reset your AirPods

Have you also restart your iPhone too see if the issue persists? Do you have a different device that you could pair the AirPods with to see if the issue continues there as well?
