Good day,

My macbook air fingerprint just suddenly stopped working.

My macbook is up to date so it definitely not software (which an istore consultant told me it definitely was)

Everytime i click on "add fingerprint" it asked for a password, i type the password it, then it doesnt allow me to click on "add fingerprint" again to scan my print.

Please help?! the apple support has been useless thus far.

New MacBook Air. 15"; Apple M2; 16GB; Sonoma 14.0. Fingerprint works great on all apps but doesn't work on lock screen after 15 minutes or so. Am I doing something wrong? Having to enter the PW on lock screen every time is a pain. If I delete the print and redo it, it works fine on initial use with lock screen and apps. If I quit and come back in half an hour, the fingerprint no longer works on the lock screen but works on the apps. Makes me think there's a glitch in the lock screen process that loses connection with the stored print.

macbook doesn't offer fingerprint to unlock the lockscreen, works everywhere else I just got a MacBook Air 15 and set up the fingerprint. It's working fine on everything EXCEPT the Lock Screen to open the MacBook. it doesn't even offer the option, I have to put in the password. I cannot find the setting to fix this. Can someone help me?

Try SMC Reset for Intel MBA. If M1 MBA - hold power button for 10 seconds.
