Windows Shortcuts - Ctrl C and Ctrl V

More than 10 years ago someone asked whether there was any way to program iPads/Macbooks so that Ctrl C and Ctrl V worked for copying and pasting, as well as other Windows-based shortcuts. At that time, there was no good answer and it looks like the string ended without a satisfactory resolution. Is that still the situation?

Your Apple Smart Keyboard for the 10.2” iPad and 10.5” iPad Pro should correctly map the keys exactly as shown on the key-caps.

I believe that you’ll find that the equivalent key combinations are actually Cmd-C and Cmd-V.

Thanks. Yes, I highlighted the text that I wish to copy (as I would always do on my Windows PC when using the shortcuts in question). I can’t find the receipt for the keyboard I bought but it was the one Best Buy was pairing with the iPad I bought and recommending it. I am reasonably sure it’s an Apple Smart Keyboard, so I insert a photo of something on the keyboard case that should confirm it:

I am betting that you are correct that the keys were re-mapped by the keyboard. Is there anything I can do if it’s an Apple Smart Keyboard?

I presume you have highlighted the text that you wish to copy? Not all iPad Apps will necessarily support these keyboard sequences.

Be aware that when used with Apple devices, not all Bluetooth keyboard device-mapping precisely match that printed on the keys. By example, many Logitech keyboards automatically sense the device to which it connects - and will re-map some keys to that appropriate for the device with which it is paired.

For other keyboard manufacturers, you may need to use an alternative key-modifier. Some experimentation may be required.
