Problems dragging folders/apps from one space to another. Mac mini M1, Big Sur

Hey all,

I'm been using Macs for decades but only recently started using spaces to keep dedicated areas for different tasks. BUT... I've been having problems with dragging windows from one space to another. I can still open Mission dealio and drag the folder/app up to switch but, that gets annoying.

I was sure that you could pull to the side and it would switch from one space to another. Right? Did I click some option to turn this off? Any help would be appreciated. I'm sure it's a simple fix.

haha... Well, I've figured out a bit of a work around. I've installed Magnet to keep my windows organized, so that gets rid of the ability to push screens to the top. Instead, I created a hot corner (which I previously thought were too finicky, until I found out the you could pair them with a key like command+corner) that can open it up and I can hop around from there. Loads of learning today! As soon as Apple fixes the bluetooth M1 issues, I'll be a real happy camper.

It is strange though. If I just drag UP, it doesn't work. If I swoop down to the second monitor and then all the way back up, it does open Mission Control. You gotta be fast but it kinda works. Would the multiple displays/choice of main display affect this?

I just bump the top of the screen with the window, Mission Control Opens, and I drop it into a Desktop.

Another way is to drag and ctrl-left/right arrow. Kind of difficult, though.

If you have the "Switch to Desktop" shortcuts enabled, you can use those while dragging.

Ahhh. I think you mean option/arrow and, although my hands are big, I’m no pianist. None of the corner options actually work for me. Drag up or to the sides Mission Control does not open. I feel like I may have presses some setting I didn’t want to. I’d love to find a solution though. Thanks for your help.

It might. An arrangement like that affects the Dock appearing on the upper monitor.

You can’t just move to the top of the screen. It may take moving it up, then rapid to top, again, but it shouldn’t require going all the way to lower monitor.

Hehe... you're right. I may have been a little overzealous/fast. "Pushing" it up rather than a quick drag seems to work. I AM going to leave this unresolved as I would love to be able to drag to the sides and pop through open spaces though. Thank you so much for your help.

Yeah, there's some sort of technique involved, but I'm not sure I can describe it well.
