Magic Keyboard Producing the Wrong Characters

Looking for help. My magic keyboard that I just purchased for a new IPad Air 4 is not working in some cases. It won't let me type apostrophes, question marks and a few other symbols. When I press the shift key to access them, it brings up other symbols a few keys away. Wondering if this is a technical issue where I’m being silly and am not understanding how to actually use the keyboard... or if something is actually wrong with it. Considering I just received it a few weeks ago and have not damaged it... I would expect it to work correctly. Wanting to return it for a new one since they’re so expensive. Please help me solve what seems to be a simple issue.

Try explicitly setting the correct country localisation for your Keyboard in iPad settings. The default “automatic” setting will sometimes cause issues.

Settings > General > Hardware Keyboard > [set localisation from the list]
