where is the hard drive icon on my new MacBook Pro?

Just unpacked a new MacBook Pro M1.

There is no icon on the desktop for the SSD/hard drive.

Is that normal?

Finder > Preferences > General ... [not to be confused with SYSTEM Preferences]
