I need to delete my internal hard drive but the screen isnt working anymore

I have an old 2011 MacBook Pro but it will not boot up correctly anymore. I need to delete the hard drive as I have sensitive information which needs deleting.

I have a brand new MB pro and have tried to connect the two using a USB cable (from the old MB) to a Thunderbolt 4 connector (into the new MB)

I have tried "Target" mode but the screen on the old MB just shows two icons moving around my screen. There is no target disc icon on my new MB desktop.

Can anyone help?

If you need only to erase the old hard drive. Have you tried Recovery Mode to use "disk utility" and perform format/erase.

Hi Sharhari

I cant get to disk utility at all the screen just goes to a charcoal grey colour and wont go any further, I believe the logic board is completely buggered (technical term :) ) I have tried everything I know except taking out the hard drive and smashing it up. I would prefer to donate it for parts if possible.
