AppleTV and ethernet

Moving away from Wi-Fi. I have an active Ethernet cable on the AppleTV that used to be connected to Wi-Fi. It sees the cable but does not communicate. Does the unit have to be fully reset to make it switch from Wi-Fi to Ethernet operation?

Just plugging in the ethernet cable should have to Apple TV request a new IP address ‘lease’ from the router (DHCP). You may want to also restart the router (and any optional switches/other network gear), to have them communicate freshly with each other.
