Canon R6 CR3 Files are Not able to be seen in PREVIEW

Many have been bringing this up as an issue for a while now...

I was happy to see a NEW Article today that said THIS ISSUE is now RESOLVED....

It's Not.... sadly

I HAVE Big Sur 11.2 on an iMac 19,1 all updates are up to date as of this writing at 1:32pm PST.

ARTICLE CONTENT

Digital camera RAW formats supported by iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and macOS Big Sur

These operating systems include system-level support for RAW images taken by many third-party cameras.

iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and macOS Big Sur include enhanced support for processing digital camera RAW formats, providing better detail and improved noise reduction. These RAW formats offer greater image-editing flexibility on iOS and iPadOS using third-party apps that support RAW.1

Support for additional RAW formats is added over time. This list is current as of 2 February 2021 and reflects compatibility for the latest versions of iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and macOS Big Sur.

LISTED CAMERAs in article stating they are fixed

  • Canon EOS R5
  • Canon EOS R6

SO THIS IS A FALSE ARTICLE

It States something was Addressed, Fixed and Released....

However this is NOT the Case.

The PROBLEM is that RAW CR3 files by Canon's latest Full Frame Digital Camera, specifically the R5 and R6 are NOT supported Natively in Big Sur v11.2 and can NOT be seen in PREVIEW.

iMac 27″, macOS 11.2

Thanks, however if I am going to open a program to see the files... I'll open Lightroom and catalog them and just start the work flow process. The point of having Apple FIX the Problem with Big Sur is so I can quickly use the macOS as it was designed and promised to work to assist me in my productivity in a streamline fashion. However, I thank you for your suggestion. I just want APPLE to STOP with the Politicking and get back to what they SHOULD BE doing in the World. ;/

My machine is the top of the line iMac 27 my camera EOSR6 with all the latest firmware. My problem is up loading from camera to Photos in Mac. if I shoot Raw JPG I get to see the JPG image in Photos. but not the RAW. Yes I can see the CR3 files in viewer but I want them to stand alone in Photos. Which is what I paid for. I hate being ripped off, and this is what I'm feeling from apple. Canon says they have done their part. I can load through the Canon utility 3 app but that just gives me a another ****** catalogue in pictures. I could use Lightroom, but that's disk space and and a new learning curve that I'm just not interested in. I say again I don't want a work around, I want what I paid for. Canon is at least the number 2 or 3 camera company in the world and apple should be serving this customers better. Does Sony have this problem?

I can't understand what's going on either as MacOS and iOS use the same raw engine so if the are able to be imported via Mac should work on iPad as well but I can only get them viewable and editable in photos if importing on the Mac first if I import via iPad just get a grey preview and if I click on edit says unable to open raw file!

That same prosess has been and is running in my Mac with two instances. I have never seen this process before. If it is a process that goes through all photos in iCloud, it will take a while. I have 59136 photos and 802 videos in my Photos library in iCloud. Hmm... could this be a problem for those who have a large Photos library in iCloud?
