Password reset and password not syncing across all apple logins.

I reset my password and I can log into the iCloud website and apple store website with the new password. However, I can't log into my Mac's messages account with the new password. I double-checked the username and password, I am entering the information correctly. There is an "unknown error occurred" message after attempting to login into Mac's messages app.
