Face ID issues after iOS 14.4 update?
Face ID no longer works after I’ve updated my phone to iOS 14.4. With my watch on, without it, eyes open, lights on or off. Anyone else having this issue?

not helpful. It was working fine until the automatic update to 14.4. Now its not working. tried to set up new face ID and the screen keeps telling me to move lower, move higher. and never works. Ive shut off the phone, tried all the tricks.
Need help or to go back to 14.3
I brought my iPad for one of the resellers and they offer me to restore the iOS version not using the iTunes but using Apple server directly. But they asked me to write a letter that in case that iPad stopped working , they take no responsibility whatsoever.( even though I bought it from them) . But I couldn’t take the risk, cause it’s the only piece of technology I have😭🥺🥺

They don’t have any other ‘secret’ access. All of them use Finder/iTunes to do restore. And Finder/iTunes restore is already using Apple server to download the software from.

If there is underlying issue, your device will need to be serviced anyway.
Just backup your iPad, then do the Finder/iTunes restore yourself, at home. It will be no difference to what your reseller would do.
I think as with many other issues they will probably fix this in a future update without even mentioning. So officially there was never an issue with Face ID. Apple usually takes quite a long time to admit their own mistakes if they don't get too much attention.

You won’t get a fix for your issue here. You are better off to contact AppleCare for help. Tell them exactly that - their service provider checked and found no issue, provide them the report ID for the repair. Very likely AppleCare will ask for logs from your device so they can escalate your case to engineers. Response might not be quick but what else do you have to lose except a bit of time on the call.

I just contacted the nearest apple authorized service provider. They offered me a hardware check for the equivalent of about $35. It should also find problems in the firmware. I think I will do that next week.
There are also a few other threads on this topic, according to which the problem has already occurred in earlier iOS 14 versions.
Try reset, Hard Reset. If didn’t help, try full restoration of firmware using iTunes. Even though if it isn’t fixed, don’t bother. Don’t try to do any more resets or firmware reinstallments which could damage to the chip and memory. We have to wait till they fix it with software update. I have tried those options dozens of time( firmware resets too) But no luck so far. If your within warrranty period, replace your device cause there’s no guratee if they fix it with software updates.
A hard reboot fixed mine. After 14.4.2 update installed my Face ID quit, would only accept passcode. It was suggested by some that a hard reboot might work. Vol up then vol down, then hold the off button until it powers off and you see the Apple logo. FIXED!
I also tried that before but Face ID failed again after a few successful unlocking attempts.
Nevertheless a hard reboot helped me to configure Face ID again after the reset. But this also worked with a normal reboot before. Face scanning took way longer than usual and at the first try I got the error message again after the first face scan was finished successfully.
But like it was mentioned here before it is not recommend to to a hard reset. on a regular basis.
I have the same problem with my 12 pro max and I tried every single trick that is available for this issue

My new eyeglasses was the issue for me but now it’s working again .
