Airpods not charging in case when unplugged

my airpods will only charge when my case is plugged in but when not plugged in it wont charge even though the case has full battery. When the case is plugged in it acts normal but when unplugged the case acts as if out of battery not showing the lights when opening and closing the air pods.

Instead I have to leave it connected to a power outlet for it to charge, but the case shows 100% when I open it while plugged-in. Please help, my AirPods are working fine though just the case.

AirPods won't charge if case is not connected to power when my AirPods are in the case connected to a charging cord, they charge. However, when they’re in the case with no charging cord connected, they do not charge. Why would this happen and is there anything I can do it fix it? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Note: when the AirPods are in the case, the charging light comes on for a few seconds and then goes out, but the AirPods are still charging.
