MacBook Pro M1 Disk Management disenter error 49244 on Big Sur 11.2.1

After updating my 2020 13in M1 MacBook Pro 16gb RAM 1TB HDD to Big Sur 11.2.1, I am unable to connect to my time machine on external drive. The drive is recognized on the disk utility, but not mounted. When I try to mount it I get the following message "Could not mount “MacBook Pro M1 Time Machine”. (com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error 49244.)". Is anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions as to how it can be fixed? Already rebooted multiple times. I had just recently created a backup on my time machine on 11.2 before updating to 11.2.1. When I connect the time machine to the computer, I'm prompted to enter the password for the drive. I enter the password, but nothing seems to happen. It's not the end of the world for me if I have to reformat the time machine drive, but if I'm having the issue immediately after the 11.2.1 update, something tells me that other people will be begin to see this issue crop up.

Hello dslusser,

We're glad you thought to ask Apple Support Communities about the trouble you're having with the external drive that houses your Time Machine backup. When in Disk Utility, did you try repairing it? If not, let's do that now to see if it helps: Repair a storage device in Disk Utility on Mac

If that doesn't help, let us know more details:

  • Which external drive are you using?
  • Have you checked for a possible firmware update for the drive?

The more details you can provide the better.

Take care.
