I have an iPhone XR with the latest software update iOS 14.4. My silent ring button no longer works.
When I toggle this switch there is no message displayed on the iPhone saying silent mode is on or silent mode is off. The phone rings no matter the position of this toggle switch.
Is there a fix for this? Any work arounds? This problem just started happening today.

My bad. It came from a Google search and I just glanced at the instructions. The title above said if the silent switch isn't working.

As you may have sensed it, the Silent Switch is a mechanical switch. The switch is either failing or has failed.
(1) Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:
(2) If the above does not work then - You may have to use the ➔ Do Not Disturb mode whenever you want to silent your iPhone.

Assistive Touch is not the best solution for a failed mechanical switch on the iPhone XR. Maybe Apple should check to see if recent software upgrades made the switch fail or there should be some concern over mechanical failures on newer phones.

Thanks for the response, I tried the reset but it did not fix the problem. Can this mechanical switch be fixed by an Apple Authorized Repair Facility? Sounds like Apple should be more concerned with mechanical switch failures on fairly new phones like the XR!
Under General Settings on my iPhone XR there is no selection for Assistive Touch button. Is this function under another category?
I recommend that you have your iPhone XR examined at the Apple Store OR at an Authorized Service Center. I am certain that they will be able to repair it.
