Occasional voice to iPhone glitch

At irregular intervals, when I speak to iPhone, the dictated text, whether accurate or not, is repeated 2 or 3 or even more times.  This happens at odd intervals, not very often.

I can think of no reason why this should happen. My iPhone is model 6s Plus. It has not been left out in the sun, dropped from a great height, immersed in any liquid, jailbroken, or otherwise abused. It was not pre-owned either. It works on the most recent IOS, and I have had it for about 3 years. It gets a lot of use, so I am wondering whether this glitch is a sign of age. I recharge it at least once a day. Overall, the device functions smoothly enough.

Any advice that could help to resolve this problem would be gratefully received.

Hello jimikec,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. From your post, it sounds like dictation will unexpectedly repeat intermittently. We'll do what we can to help.

Since it appears mostly software-related, let's focus on the troubleshooting steps related to it:

Have a great day.

Thank you very much for the reply.

I was on 14.4, so should have made that clearer. I checked the microphones, twice - no problems reported.

I think the problem is now solved. I read a related thread in Google, after posting my question here. and one of the posters on that thread suggested checking whether a user’s software was set to allow several dictation languages. The poster suggested that allowing several, confused the software, and that disabling all except one might solve the problem. I tried out that advice on my device, and - so far, at least - it seems to have solved the problem.

Thank you again for your help.
