Battery problem.

I left my MacBook Pro 2017 model in -19'c cold for a week and now its showing a "battery service recommended" problem and the battery is not even changing. Is there any other option rather then going to a service centre.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.1

According to Apple the laptop can be stored in temps as low as -25C, but if the battery becomes completely discharged, then permanent damage can occur to the battery. Also when a Lithium-ion battery becomes completely discharged it can prevent the Apple laptop from powering on.

Try an SMC Reset.

Have Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider examine the laptop. Apple has several publicly acknowledged free repair programs for various battery issues and also a few secret free repair programs. Here is a current list of the publicly acknowledged free repair programs for various Apple products (some products have multiple programs):

Apple also just introduced a new free Battery repair program for batteries that won't charge past 1%. The only way to confirm that you qualify is for Apple to run one of their diagnostics that will tell the technician whether the laptop/battery qualifies for this specific program.
