how to delete app icons on top toolbar of iMac?

I'm using an iMac 27 inch (mid-2011), MacOs v 10.13.6. It has a toolbar across the top of the screen. On the RH side there are several icons. One is for Malwarebytes. I deleted that application from the iMac a long time ago but I can't get rid of the icon on the toolbar. It is annoying as it periodically prompts me to update the application. How can I delete this icon off the toolbar? I can't find any way of editing the toolbar at all.

If their is a Malwarebytes icon in the tool bar, it has not been uninstalled properly

To uninstall, click on the Malwarebytes icon and select open

in Malwarebytes, go to the Help menu and select uninstall:

Jack, Thanks so much for your quick reply. So I held the Command key and dragged the icon off the toolbar. It moved off the toolbar to the desktop but displayed the 'not possible' sign (the circle with diagonal line). So when I released the mouse it returned to the toolbar. It allowed me to move its position on the toolbar but not remove it off the toolbar. I wish I could get it to the Trash Bin!

Jack, thanks again for your efforts to help me. There are several icons on the toolbar. Some of them came with the iMac, eg bluetooth, network, wifi, sound, language flag, date and time. A few have been added automatically (not by me) since I downloaded an app, eg Dropbox. I've never needed to edit the toolbar before. Malwarebytes is the only one there that I don't want. Restarting doesn't solve the problem- I've restarted the computer many times.

Jack, Thanks. Your suggestion following on from George's suggestion makes sense. However, bearing in mind that when installing apps on an iMac we are supposed to do it from the Apple App Store on the iMac, rather than from the third party website, I tried to do that. I can't find any Malwarebytes app in the App Store. I can find it on the malwarebytes.com website. But I'm not sure if it's a good idea to download it from the third party website and fear I may cause myself another problem.

Maybe it's not available in the App Store because the MacOs version I'm using is so old (MacOs v 10.13.6) and is no longer supported by Apple. The reason I haven't updated that is due to another problem. (Adobe Reader won't work on later versions of MacOs and I need Adobe Reader. Perhaps I should start a new question on that issue as it's a separate problem).

If you have any further suggestions about deleting the Malwarebytes icon, other than updating the operating system, I'd be grateful to see them here. I'm surprised there's no way to delete an icon off the toolbar by dragging it to the trash bin. That was how I deleted the Malwarebytes app, I think.
