imap and smtp connect fail.

I entered the password but it still fails. I can get mail on my phones but not my iMac. It says connected on the internet.

"Trying to log in to this IMAP/ SMTP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct."

iMac Line (2012 and Later)

are you using Apple MAIL? if so and assuming you have the internet accounts pane found in system preferences. Set up your mail there. Once that's done then launch Mail and go to preferences and accounts and select SERVER. Then depending upon your sip enter the correct out and in server numbers. Comcast is 993 not 143 and 587. Its difficult to help you because of the lack of information in this posting.
