Monitor problems after 11.2.1

I have M1 Mac Mini, and have an Asus monitor connected with an HMDI-HDMI cable. Never had a problem.

After the 11.2.1 update last night, today the Asus monitor control panel has been popping up and cycling through options on its own.

I try to use the button on the monitor to close it; the control panel is initially unresponsive and then becomes responsive and closes.

Given that part of 11.2.1 was fixing "External displays may show a black screen when connected to a Mac mini (M1, 2020) using an HDMI to DVI converter", I can't help but wonder if something in the update isn't causing this problem.

Anybody else having issues like this?

Hello bruce toman,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We understand your concern regarding your external monitor behavior after updating your Mac, and we'd be happy to look Ito this with you.

Since noticing this, have you tried to restart your Mac normally?

Also, let's try to test this behavior in another user account:
