This is not possible. While you can, as Joseph_S. suggests, hide the preview while you are composing the e-mail, this will in no way affect how the attachment is displayed by the recipient. That is entirely controlled by the recipient's e-mail client. There are hints embedded in the message you send that suggests how to display the image. Those hints always specify to show the image with an inline preview. This cannot be changed. Sorry.
