iOS music app problem... song names not showing properly

I've been having this problem for years on my iOS devices:

this is what most of my albums look like in album view mode on my iOS devices. the song names are listed as what *used* to be in the "grouping" field (in this case, "reggae" was what was in the grouping field). I've since deleted the grouping entries on every song in my music library with the macOS music app (formerly iTunes), and it still says this instead of the song names.


meanwhile, it displays just fine on my macOS music app.


what's wrong with this thing??

    • First, did you get a chance to restart the iPhone? If not, restart the iPhone.
    • Do you subscribe to Apple Music or iTunes Match at all? If the answer is yes, you may want to log out of Apple Music or iTunes Match on your device. You can do this by logging out and back into your Apple ID under Settings > [your name] > Sign Out.
    • Are all your devices connected and using the same Apple ID? Depending on the answers above, this may impact the way music appears on your devices as well.

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities! From your post, we can see that you're experiencing issues with the album information on your iPhone versus on your Mac. We want to help you locate the answers you need. To verify, is this imported music, music from Apple Music, or music that you purchased from the iTunes Store?


Also, if you have not already tried, Restart your iPhone. Often this simple step will refresh the apps and software on the device to solve numerous problems you may encounter.


Can you also tell us how you are syncing your devices? Do you have Sync Library enabled?


Turn on Sync Library with Apple Music
