Severe eye strain on Retina MacBook Pro 13" 2019

Hi, I've seen a slew of similar posts on these and other forums but I want to see if there is any new information on what to do regarding severe eye strain and vision degradation as the day goes on while using the retina MBP 13" from 2019. I'm using the native display at the highest resolution because the type of work I do requires the highest resolution screenshots.

As the day progresses, my vision gets blurrier and blurrier, to the point that when 5:00 rolls around, I can barely read anything. I've purchased special computer glasses with blue light filter which don't seem to help. I am sitting about 2 feet away from the machine (otherwise I couldn't read it at all). I have a Windows PC that exhibits none of these problems for me. On the days when I'm not using the MBP my vision is normal and clear.

I am not the only one with this issue so I'm wondering what can be done from a technological standpoint. My eye doctor says it's a known problem with these laptops. Thanks.

Hey there Andrew Stivelman,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. We understand you’re having issues with using your MacBook Pro with a Retina display throughout the day. We’ll be happy to help with this.

To verify, are these issues occurring with every app? If this is only happening in specific apps, then you’ll want to follow the steps under ”Using apps with a Retina display” from the following article as they could lead to a resolution for the issue in question:

Using a Retina display

You may also want to consider doing an NVRAM and SMC reset on your Mac and see if they have any impact on this:

We hope this helps. Take care.
