Sound cuts in and out on FaceTime iPhone 12 plus

When I’m on FaceTime the sound goes in and out. If the other person is talking and there is noise on my end they cut out. But if I mute my end I can hear than fine.

Hi Miskoehn98,

As we understand it, when on FaceTime with someone, you're unable to hear them if your background is noisy. To hear them you have to mute on your end.

To isolate this issue, we'd recommend checking the microphones on your iPhone. Take a look through the steps here, and let us know the results.

Additionally, is this specific to a type of FaceTime call or any one particular contact? For example if it's a FaceTime video call, if you call via audio only, does the issue persist? Or with a different contact?

Let us know, and we'll continue from there.

Cheers!

Miskoehn98,

Thanks for clarifying.

Are you in two separate locations when the issue occurs? Also, if your daughter FaceTimes with anyone else, have they complained of background noise or being unable to hear them?

Additionally, Wi-Fi or cellular speed can impact the quality of a FaceTime call, is she in an area with a poor Wi-Fi or cellular signal?

Cheers!
