HP 3700 Series print failed filter

Trying to set up an HP 3700 series printer/scanner and I am consistently getting the dreaded "Printing - filter failed" error. I have been to this thread and followed the authors steps/solution exactly, but to no avail.

The system can find the printer, see the ink levels, etc. ... It just won't print and says the printer is not connected via WiFi and then print.

I am running a 2008 Mac Pro with High Sierra (patched).

Anyone else have another possible solution?

Hi Chaz1138,

We see you're attempting to print from your Mac to your HP printer, but keep receiving an error of "filter failed".

The linked discussion post lists some great troubleshooting steps, we'd just like to confirm the following:

Have you removed and re-added your printer as outlined here? If your HP printer doesn't work and you see a warning that HP software '...will damage your computer'
HP has a support article outlining how to run their uninstaller on macOS to fully remove and then add the printer back as well. We'd recommend reviewing these steps to make sure they've been taken: HP Printers - A [software component] will damage your computer message displays when printing or while installing (macOS)

If so, and the issue persists, we'd recommend reaching out to HP directly for additional assistance.

Thank you. I had tried all those other methods, except downloading and using the HP Uninstaller. That seems to have done the trick for printing. Now, however, I cannot make it scan.
