iPhone is Disabled - connect to iTunes

After many failed attempts to log into my phone using the correct password (an odd phenomenon in itself), the error message changed from "iPhone Disabled - try again in (x) minutes/hours" to "iPhone Disabled - connect to iTunes." I plugged my phone into my MacBook Pro (MacOS Catalina) with a USB cord to restore it. My device is not visible in either my finder under locations or iTunes/Music, however the cable is working because my phone vibrates whenever I plug it in. I have tested most of the troubleshooting methods on this website including checking/unchecking boxes in the finder settings and even going to the system information (my device was not listed). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Keeping in mind that if you don't have a backup all data will be lost on that device (except those that you eventually synced to iCloud), pay attention to the specific gestures that you need to perform while connecting your iPhone to a computer (Windows 10 PC running the latest iTunes version) or Mac (which can have iTunes or Finder, depending on the macOS installed on it), and follow these instructions to re-gain access to your device:--> If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support
