Red dot on Notifications Icon in System Preferences

I'm running Big Sur v 11.2.1 on a MacBook Pro. The notification icon at the right of the System Toolbar is missing and there is a Red Dot on the Notification icon in System Preferences. If I click to the right of the System Toolbar, the Notifications are displayed.

System was recently updated to 11.2.1 when problem appeared. Anyone else seeing this or have a way to fix.

Suggestions much appreciated.

Solved: I did more research and it appears the red dot is part of the design of the Notifications icon in System Preferences. I must not have noticed before. Regarding the notification icon at the right of the System Toolbar, it appears this was changed in Big Sur.

At the right end of the menu bar, click the date and time to open Notification Center
