Facebook messenger

When I turn on my mac computer & it goes through it's startup, Facebook messanger opens automatically, how do I turn it off so it only opens when I want it to


iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.13

Hi debbru,


We see Facebook Messenger starts up automatically when logging into your Mac.


On your Mac, go to System Preferences > Users & Groups. Then under the "Login Items" tab, check for Facebook Messenger.


If you see it there, click on Facebook Messenger to highlight it and then click the "-" symbol to remove it. After that the app should only open when you manually open it.
