Is Administrator name and password the same one I login to my computer with?

I need to put in my administrator's name and password to download an app on my mac. I've put in my username and all possible passwords (the password I was using matched my hint). It didn't work and I was wondering whether this administrator name and password is the same one I login to my computer with, or whether there is a way to change the password? I am the administrator on my mac btw.
