2nd Gen AirPods keep disconnecting

I bought some brand new AirPods 2 weeks ago and for the last few days they have been disconnecting every now and then during calls. I have had to reconnect them to make them work. Can anyone advise what’s wrong? Are they faulty?

Hi there Monkeyface1856,

We understand you're experiencing an issue with your AirPods (2nd Generation) disconnecting unexpectedly, and we'd like to see if we can assist.

Do you experience the same issue when using your AirPods with different devices, or only with one? What about with different kinds of audio, or just phone calls?

Also, reset your AirPods, and test them again.

Finally, check for any sources of interference that may be causing them to disconnect: Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference

Cheers!

Monkeyface1856,

Thanks for that additional information.

Next, head to Settings > Bluetooth (not Control Center), and try turning it off and back on. Does this help with the call audio issue?

Also, restart your iPhone, and check again.

Finally, try forgetting all other Bluetooth devices in Settings > Bluetooth except for your AirPods, and see if the issue persists.

Thanks!

Hello,

Thank you for your reply....

in regards to connecting i only notice them when making calls. According to the other people who I’m trying to talk too they say that the line goes dead and intermittently they can hear me for a second or so and then dead again. I then have to manually reconnect the head phones. Whilst this is happening I can hear them the whole time.

I haven’t noticed this happening at any other time.

I have also reset the headphones a few times now and it works for a short time and then starts again.

in regards to interference... I have an iPhone 11 Pro and this is the only thing with me most of the time when trying to make these calls.
