Auto mounting LaCie SSD not working

  • when plugging in (it has a USB 3.1 Gen 2 / Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C connector) I hear tone, and can see it in manager, but doesn't mount with a drive letter. Can manually assign one but does not retain it on restart. Again this in a fresh new reinstall with updated boot camp drivers and Windows 10, all was working before reinstall.

If Windows does not recognize the file system, it will not Automount.

Its there in Disk Management just not mounting. Mounts fine MacOS
Disk 8 in the list

/dev/disk8 (external, physical):

   #:                       TYPE NAME                    SIZE       IDENTIFIER

   0:      GUID_partition_scheme                        *1.0 TB     disk8

   1:                        EFI EFI                     209.7 MB   disk8s1

   2:         Microsoft Reserved                         16.8 MB    disk8s2

   3:                 Apple_APFS Container disk9         450.8 GB   disk8s3

4:       Microsoft Basic Data LaCie Share             549.1 GB   disk8s4

APFS Container will not mount unless you use third-party software.

disk8s4 should Automount, unless it has file system corruption. Manually mounting it indicates that the file system may have issues. I have also seen issues with exFAT file systems.

Can you post the output of

diskutil info disk8s4
