Can I connect my pc to an imac monitor

I'm considering purchasing an iMac but currently own a Windows 10 64bit desktop. Can the PC be connected to the iMac? Just to save space on my desk and not have 2 monitors.

I read that you cannot connect a PC to a Retina display. Any suggestions??

Thank you.

some say it was possible with some 2009 imacs, later on target display enabled imacs only worked with other macs

these days target display seems to have been fully disabled, the last imac that supported it was the 2014 model and people report with big sur on ones mac one can not target display even to a 2014 or earlier model.
