Radeon Pro W5700X

I have the 'new' Mac Pro fitted with a Radeon Pro W5700X MPX module. In MacOS this works fine.

I set up Windows 10 using Boot Camp but the card does not show in Device Manager nor will the drivers update as the AMD set-up repeatedly shows 'Error 173' (no AMD hardware detected).

The Apple article HT210968 reads - 'If you use Boot Camp and have already set up Windows, install AMD drivers before installing the Radeon Pro W5700X MPX module'.

How the **** am I supposed to do this? The module is already installed (if I remove it I remove the connection to my monitors so I'll be flying blind) and AMD drivers will not install unless the hardware is detected as being present in the system...

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

Windows, Windows 6

Hi there Stiobhna.

We appreciate you participating in Apple Support Communities. It appears you need help with setting up Boot Camp on your new Mac Pro and are concerned because the Radeon Pro W5700X MPX module is already installed. The article you mentioned does have a section to assist with this specific issue.

Use the Radeon Pro W5700X MPX Module with your Mac Pro

Look under the section titled 'Use the Radeon Pro W5700X MPX Module with Microsoft Windows'. It provides an added note stating "If you didn't install AMD drivers and your display shows a black screen, connect your display via HDMI, then follow the steps above. After you install the AMD drivers, you can connect your display via Thunderbolt 3."

That should provide a way to install the AMD drivers, then walk through setting up Boot Camp.

Warm Regards.
